Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there.

I’m Mindy, and I write contemporary stories about life and love with a splash of humor.

My debut novel, Paradise Unplugged, is set on an island in the remote region of the Grenadines—the extraordinary slice of the Caribbean that first stole my heart.

On my first trip to the Southern Caribbean—aboard a Barefoot Windjammer Cruise—I fell in love. In love with the aqua-blue water, the bright-white sand, and the overwhelming natural beauty that greeted me each morning. Little did I know this adventure would set in motion my never-ending wanderlust for the tropics. Since then, I’ve gone back to over twenty island nations in the Lesser Antilles archipelago, and the people and culture of each have shaped my life and the stories I want to tell.

Paradise Unplugged

Hollywood writer-director Carly Chandler has always been at the top of her game. But when her latest rom-com flops on the same day a tabloid scandal involving her fiancé goes viral, she opts out of her hyper-connected life and escapes to a remote island in the Caribbean.

Life at the barefoot luxury beach hotel along with Shane Wickens, a laid-back boat captain and ex-professional surfer, challenge Carly to unplug from her workaholic lifestyle and connect with her surroundings. But when the idyllic setting inspires Carly’s next rom-com movie, she’s swept back up into the Hollywood whirlwind.

Plugging back into her old life could revive Carly’s flailing career, but it could also destroy the friendships she’s found—and the beginnings of a new love.

Bio

After graduating from UCLA with a BA in psychology, Mindy Miller studied screenwriting through professional extension courses, and for over a decade, she held various positions in the film industry, including development assistant for an Emmy award-winning producer. She has worked as a stand-in for actors on many films and TV series, and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Mindy’s work as a flight attendant fed her wanderlust, especially her affection for the Caribbean islands, which she has explored extensively. Drawing on those experiences and her more recent work as a water sports instructor and boat captain at a five-star resort, she brings vivid realism to her debut novel. Mindy and her husband enjoy their love of travel from their home base in Austin, Texas.
